Submitting an Application

You must provide 12 collated, three-hole punched (not stapled) sets of the proposal.

Your packets must include the following:

  1. Grant Summary Sheet
  2. Proposal Narrative
  3. Budget Worksheet
  4. Your agency’s Board of Directors list and contact information

The application must also include one copy of your IRS 501©(3) determination letter, a single copy of your most recent audit piece and a single copy of your annual report (even if it is just a sheet describing your organizations past years accomplishments.)

Letters of support are recommended for any proposals involving collaboration or partnership of various groups. Do not send cover letters, brochures, folders, binders, videos, printed programs, photos or any other attachments unless requested by the program officer.

All submissions must be formatted using the Grant Summary Sheet, Budget Worksheet, and the Proposal Narrative.

Application Tips

If you are not a 501©(3) nonprofit corporation, you need to identify an organization that is willing to serve as your fiduciary agent.

We give priority to proposals that:

  • Are sustainable
  • Serve a broad number of clients and community members
  • Create or improve quality services and programs for underserved populations
  • Address a unique community need without duplication of services
  • Develop or test new, creative community solutions
  • Evidence of broad community impact and support
  • Promote problem-solving that supports partnerships and collaboration
  • Incorporate sound programmatic methods and evaluation
  • Demonstrate strong organizational capacity, governance and commitment to project

We do not fund:

  • Program ads
  • Fundraising events/sponsorships
  • More than 50 percent of the cost of a vehicle
  • Deficit reduction
  • Sectarian religious activities
  • Government funding cuts
  • Start-up organizations
  • School playgrounds
  • Endowments
  • Fire departments
  • Internships
  • Field trips
  • Indirect Costs

Your application will be compared to all of those submitted under the same program area. You must submit the 2010 Grant Summary Sheet and Budget Worksheet.
