Healthcare
The Healthcare Community Advisory Panel, which was launched in March of 2009, has eight members who are respected content experts or community members with special interest in healthcare. The Foundation trustee on the Healthcare CAP is Dr. Geoffrey Dunn.
The Healthcare CAP is charged with identifying a specific need and recommending a specific solution to be proactive in Healthcare. The Erie Community Foundation allocates up to $100,000 a year to do this work, and to the extent possible, leverages additional outside funding.
The CAP work is a new way of doing business for The Erie Community Foundation. We recognize that to be a strong proactive grantmaker, we also have to provide philanthropic leadership. We can better elevate issues to the community by creating a common understanding of needs and opportunities.
To be successful in areas where the community has failed in the past, we have:
- to foster new and more creative partnerships;
- to leverage the limited resources of the community;
- to coordinated grantmaking efforts with other initiatives; and
- to seek the multiple opportunities to leverage additional funding.
