Common Understanding

In 2008, The Foundation funded a project manager at ReThink Erie to evaluate Northwest Pennsylvania’s Workforce Development and Educational Challenges and Opportunities. The data gathered were used to inform the CAP’s theory of change development.

As a further effort to develop a common understanding of issues related to increasing access to workforce training opportunities in Erie County, The Foundation and the Industrial Resource Center funded a Value-Stream Mapping assessment of the CareerLink. This assessment reviewed current practice as it relates to workers and employers interacting with the system. Based on results, several recommendations for practice improvements to the CareerLink have been made and are in the process of implementation.
